11 GROUNDBREAKING SHOWS PLUS A NEW PROGRAM FOCUSING ON IN-PROGRESS WORK

Our Winter 2022-2023 season featured the work of some of Chicago's exciting experimental devisers, choreographers and performers. Highlights included: Before Winter, a haunting piece of experimental theater by Tony Kunst; An intimate circus show by Company to X for that takes a daring look at queer friendship; and Dogs or Cats; Augmented Body, an interdisciplinary puppetry show by Jaerin Son. LookOut's winter season also features percussion ensemble Beyond This Point, an experimental opera by Corey Smith and more!

Additionally, we launched a curatorial residency program, offering an opportunity for an up-and-coming Chicago practitioners to curate a series of performances over a two week span in February. For the launch of this program, curators Kara Brody & Amanda Maraist chose to spotlight three movement makers–Cat Mahari, Tuli Bera, and Drew Lewis–in a series titled: work around.

As a multidisciplinary performance series, we are primarily interested in connecting with Chicago-based artists who have an existing body of presentable work. We are particularly interested in offering a platform to artists representing historically marginalized communities and programming work that incorporates diversity across genre, form, and perspective. We do not accept unsolicited full-length scripts.
